One weekend in 1983, Senior
Grandmaster Edmund K. Parker is invited to Tucson, Arizona by host
Mr. Gilbert Velez to teach a seminar on the entire Forms series of
his American Kenpo Karate System. Over the course of those days, 10
hours of footage captures Mr. Parker personally instructing a full
house with the assistance of Mr. Jim Mitchell and Mr. Richard “Huk”
Planas.
Only one video camera was allowed
by Mr. Parker that weekend, whose original footage is now being made
available to the public for the first time after almost 3 decades.
This seminar footage has been digitally re-mastered and organized
into an extraordinary collection of 5 DVDs.
Beginning with an insightful
lecture on the origin and purpose of Forms, Mr. Parker then moves on
to teach the concepts of Motion that are integral to excelling in
the art of Kenpo. Afterward, the detail work of teaching all 9
empty-handed forms in the system begins, starting with Short Form 1,
and concluding with Long Form 6.
With high energy and enthusiasm,
Mr. Parker gives us a glimpse into his genius and his Art. A
treasure and a must for all Kenpo practitioners and enthusiasts.
